Yin and Restorative Yoga

Yin yoga can deepen the flexibility and elasticity of your connective tissues.

2I was introduced to yin and restorative yoga whilst completing my teacher training with The Yoga Academy. Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body. An asana can be held for up to 5 minutes sometimes even longer.

Yin yoga can deepen the flexibility and elasticity of your connective tissues and bring more mobility and lubrication to stiff joints. It can help to release stored emotions that are held within the body which can help to relieve stress and anxiety. The practice is a form of meditation, and helps you learn how to surrender – not just on the mat, but in all areas of your life.

I run a yoga day every three months, to tie in with the seasons. The latter part of the workshop consists of yin and restorative yoga. Please check out the section ‘workshops’ under teaching to find out when my next yoga day is taking place.
